WELCOMES ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST
EVANSVILLE, IND. (August 16, 2006) -- Ohio Valley HeartCare (OVHC), a tri-state area cardiology and cardiovascular surgery practice, announced Asem A. Rimawi, M.D. joined its cardiology team. A specialist in electrophysiology cardiology (the study and treatment of the heart’s electrical activity), Rimawi comes to OVHC from the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, in Iowa City, Iowa, where he recently completed a clinical electrophysiology fellowship.
Board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine, Rimawi received his medical degree from the University of Jordan, in Amman, Jordan. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He has also practiced at the Jordan University Hospital and completed a significant body of cardiovascular research and presentations.
"Among other areas, Dr. Rimawi’s electrophysiology expertise enhances OVHC's medical services for patients who have pacemakers and defibrillators. He expands our electrophysiology capabilities and will be able to capitalize on our upcoming relocation to the St. Mary’s Heart Institute to provide leading-edge medical services to patients," says Larry D. Bucshon, M.D., an OVHC cardiovascular/thoracic surgeon and the practice's president.
